It goes without saying that you are *quite* the woman! Tell us a bit about your business journey so far…
I’ve been an entrepreneur for over 20 years and have founded multiple successful businesses, including the world’s first vegan gummy brand and my current venture Rem3dy Health, trading as Nourished. Nourished creates bespoke, 3D-printed nutrient stacks tailored to individuals’ needs. Since launching in 2020 we’ve expanded globally, forged strategic partnerships with world leading corporations such as Colgate and Suntory, and are now recognised as an innovator in health tech; earning accolades such as the King’s Award for Enterprise.
What inspired you to set up your business and what have been the most significant steps in growing it to where you have to date?
The inspiration behind Nourished came from a personal experience of inconvenience – juggling various vitamin bottles while traveling, which culminated in me spilling them all over an airport floor! That moment made me realise there had to be a simpler way to maintain an impactful nutrition regime; one that combined everything into a single, personalised solution. I wanted to create an offering that would not only add convenience to our customer’s lives but also provide tailored health benefits based on their individual needs.
The key milestones in growing Nourished have been the development of our patented 3D printing technology, which allows us to create bespoke nutrient stacks on demand, and our new high speed manufacturing line which has enabled us to scale our offering into retail and key new markets. In 2019, I secured the highest-ever seed investment round for a female founder in the UK, with our subsequent Series A funding in 2021 enabling us to significantly scale operations and expand internationally. Building a passionate and talented team has also been essential, as it’s their dedication to innovation and customer experience that has driven our rapid growth. Partnerships with major players have further validated our mission, helping us expand worldwide. Each of these steps has been crucial in turning Nourished from an idea in an airport into a global health-tech brand.
Did you dive straight into entrepreneurial life, or did you take your time planning?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset since starting my first business at 23 whilst still at university. Since then, I’ve continuously sought new ways to innovate to provide meaningful and impactful solutions to the consumer market. When I realised 3D printing could revolutionise personalised nutrition, I immersed myself in learning and developing the technology to launch Nourished.
Business support comes in so many forms – accelerators, mentors, finance, and networking, to name a few. What support have you found the most significant in helping you to start and scale?
Mentorship and strategic partnerships have been crucial. Partnering with brands such as Suntory and UPSA, a heritage pharmaceutical giant based in France, for example, has enabled us to scale rapidly across Europe, drawing from their expertise and experience in these markets. I’ve also been supported by passionate and skilled team members who have helped steer the business through its rapid growth.
What’s on your vision board this year?
This year, my focus is not only on global expansion but also on optimising Nourished’s impact. We are continuously refining our product offering to incorporate the latest scientific research and consumer trends, ensuring that our personalised nutrition solutions are at the forefront of innovation. This includes developing new ingredients and blends to support specific health needs, from menopause to mental well-being, based on real customer feedback and emerging clinical studies.
In addition to product development, I’m deeply committed to driving social impact, particularly when it comes to empowering women in business. As part of the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) Female Founders Cohort, I am working to change the narrative around venture capital funding for female entrepreneurs. By advocating for equal access to finance, I hope to create more opportunities for women to scale their businesses and succeed in industries that have traditionally been male-dominated. For me, it’s about using our growth as a vehicle for positive change, both in health and in business leadership.
Apparently, a founder’s morning routine says a lot about them. Talk us through yours…
I’m told I’m crazy but I wake up at 4am every day, as I find those early hours the most peaceful and productive. I always start with a run or gym session to clear my mind and set a positive tone for the day ahead. By 6am, I’m usually working, often planning my day and working on business strategies before my meetings start.
What are your non-negotiables, in both business and life?
Integrity and passion are non-negotiable, whether it’s in business or my personal life. I believe in staying true to my values, being honest, and dedicating myself fully to any goal I pursue.
As a successful founder, how easy do you actually find it trying to have work/life balance?
I’m deeply passionate about my work and I genuinely love what I do, so it can be challenging to find balance. However, I ensure I make time for my family, and daily exercise helps me maintain both mental and physical well-being.
Are there any go-to resources you’d recommend to fellow founders – be that books, podcasts, memberships, or something else entirely?
One of the most influential books for me has been How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. It offers timeless advice on leadership, communication, and relationship-building, which have all been crucial in my entrepreneurial journey. Beyond books, I also recommend seeking out strong mentorship and networking opportunities. These connections can provide invaluable insights, guidance, and support as you navigate the challenges of building and scaling a business. Engaging with other founders and industry leaders through networking programs has been instrumental in my own growth.
On the subject of advice, what’s the most BS advice you’ve ever received? Did you ignore it straight away or learn the hard way?
“Stay in your lane.” As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that innovation often comes from exploring beyond established boundaries. Following intuition and experimenting has been key to my success.
Finally, we believe in the power of celebrating your wins. What are you most proud of?
I’m incredibly proud of creating a product that genuinely makes a positive difference in people’s lives. Hearing from customers who have experienced improvements in their health and well-being thanks to Nourished is by far the most rewarding part of what I do. Reading reviews where someone shares how their skin has improved, or they’ve felt more energetic, really reinforces why we work so hard to innovate. It’s not just about being recognised as an industry leader, it’s about knowing we’re helping individuals achieve their health goals in a way that’s personalised and truly impactful.
